WHAT WE DO

Brazilian Jiujitsu is a ground-based grappling martial art. It focuses on techniques such as submissions, joint locks, and chokes, as well as standing techniques like takedowns and throws. Jiujitsu emphasizes leverage, timing, and strategy over brute strength, making it accessible to practitioners of all shapes and sizes.

Rachael Gilliam

Founder, Head Coach

Rachael is a first degree black belt under Dan Guillemette of Evolution Jiujitsu in Quebec. Rachael is the owner and founder of The Armbarn and Gone Rogue Jiujitsu, a Ladies jiujitsu program on Salt Spring Island. Rachael also runs a popular Kids’ Jiujitsu program for ages 3-18 yrs in partnership with Salt Spring Island PARC.

Kate Gilliam

Kate is a blue belt under Rachael Gilliam of Gone Rogue Jiujitsu. Kate keeps the administrative side of the Gone Rogue business running, and helps coach kids’ Jiujitsu. Kate keeps Kune Kune pigs at the ArmBarn as therapy pets!
